Kirriemuir

On a hillside overlooking the beautiful Angus glens, James Braid created a superb course with remarkable views and a great golfing test at its heart. Established in 1903, Kirriemuir Golf Club is a heathland/parkland layout featuring avenues of trees, gorse and broom surrounding undulating fairways which lead to stunning greens. The views in particular from the 4th hole with impressive peaks of Lochnager in the distance are inspiring.

Set against the backdrop of the Angus glens, Kirriemuir provides a feast for the senses as well as a thoroughly enjoyable test of golf. A little-known but much-loved Scottish course which is ideal for a golfing break, Kirriemuir golf course has plenty to offer connoisseurs of the game.

Pro Tips

Kirriemuir can lull you into a false sense that it is short and easy. But resist the temptation to use the driver off the tee and play for position instead. Be cautious with your approach shots as most of the greens are smaller than you would expect.

Like many of the great golf courses, Kirriemuir's best is reserved for the finish. The 17th and 18th are two fantastic holes. The 17th, a 180-yards par 3 is guarded by two majestic trees both left and right living up to its title Braid's Gem.
